Amethyst Rings

Amethyst rings here are non-bridal fashion rings that center a real purple amethyst in a right-hand design such as a halo, a bezel, an accented cocktail, a cluster, a three-stone or a channel setting, priced complete and sized to order. You choose the metal, the center carat, and whether the amethyst is lab-created or natural wherever both are stocked. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and rates 7 on the Mohs scale, softer than sapphire or ruby at 9 and diamond at 10, so it is a little more scratch-prone and does best in a protective setting with a touch of everyday care. Most natural amethyst is gently heat-treated to even its purple, a standard and permanent practice we disclose; we never sell imitation or simulant amethyst. Prices are all-in for the finished ring.

Frequently Asked

Amethyst Rings FAQ

Is the amethyst real?

Yes. Every ring centers a real amethyst, which is the purple variety of the mineral quartz. You choose between a lab-created amethyst and a natural amethyst wherever both are stocked. A lab-created amethyst is grown in a controlled environment and is chemically and physically the same quartz as a mined one; a natural amethyst is earth-mined and unique. Neither is an imitation, and we never sell glass, synthetic corundum or cubic zirconia as amethyst.

How durable is an amethyst ring for everyday wear?

Amethyst is quartz and rates 7 on the Mohs scale. That is durable enough to wear regularly, but it is softer than sapphire and ruby at 9 and diamond at 10, so it scratches more easily over time. It rewards a protective setting, which is why many designs here are bezels, halos, clusters and low channel styles. Take it off for gardening, cleaning or the gym, and clean it with mild soap and a soft brush.

Is the amethyst treated?

Most natural amethyst on the market is gently heat-treated to even and deepen its purple color. This is a standard, permanent and long-accepted practice and does not make an amethyst any less real. We disclose it as the norm. Lab-created amethyst is grown clean and is not oiled or filled.

Do you sell imitation or synthetic-substitute amethyst?

No. We never sell glass, synthetic corundum or cubic zirconia passed off as amethyst. Every stone we set is genuine quartz, either natural or lab-created, and we screen for this before a stone is ever listed. A lab-created amethyst is real quartz grown in a lab, not an imitation.

What is the difference between lab-created and natural amethyst?

Both are true amethyst, the purple variety of quartz, with the same chemistry, hardness and color. A lab-created amethyst is grown in a controlled environment, so it tends to look cleaner, costs less, and is produced without mining. A natural amethyst is earth-mined, one of a kind, and commonly heat-treated. We price each honestly and keep the lab price at or below the natural price at every matching carat.

Is this an engagement ring?

No. These are fashion rings, made for the right hand, a stack or a self-purchase rather than a proposal. Wear one however you like. Because amethyst is a softer stone, it is better suited to a fashion ring you can treat with a little care than to a hard-worn everyday engagement ring.

Do the rings come with a gemstone certificate?

These calibrated amethysts ship without an individual lab report. We hand-select every center for even purple color and a clean face. If you would like a finer or larger natural amethyst, our concierge will source and quote one honestly.

What does the price include?

Everything. The price is the complete ring: the setting in your chosen metal, the amethyst center you select, and the labor to set and size it. There is no separate stone to buy and nothing to add at checkout.

Can I choose the carat, metal and stone type?

Yes. Each ring lets you pick the metal, the center carat weight, and whether the amethyst is lab-created or natural wherever both are stocked. Ring size is confirmed after you order so we can size the finished ring to your finger.

Is an amethyst ring a good February birthday gift?

It is a natural fit. Amethyst is the February birthstone, so a purple amethyst ring reads as a thoughtful birthday piece for a February baby, and an easy reason to treat yourself if you are one.
