Emerald Rings

Emerald rings here are non-bridal fashion rings that center a real green emerald in a protective setting such as a bezel, a halo, an accented cocktail design, a cluster or a three-stone, priced complete and sized to order. You choose the metal, the center carat, and whether the emerald is lab-created or natural. Both lanes are true green beryl. Emerald rates about 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale and is more brittle than sapphire, so we favor settings that shelter the stone. Natural emerald is almost always oiled to soften its inclusions, a standard practice, and a lab-created emerald is real beryl grown cleaner and tougher for daily wear. These calibrated stones ship without an individual lab report.

Frequently Asked

Emerald Rings FAQ

Are these engagement rings?

No. This collection is deliberately non-bridal. These are fashion rings, made for the right hand, a stack or a self-purchase rather than a proposal. If you are shopping for a proposal, our sapphire and gemstone engagement rings live in separate collections.

Is the emerald real?

Yes. Every ring centers a real green emerald, which is the green variety of the mineral beryl. You choose between a lab-created emerald and a natural emerald wherever both are stocked. A lab-created emerald is grown in a controlled environment and is chemically and physically the same beryl as a mined one; a natural emerald is earth-mined and unique. Neither is an imitation.

How durable is an emerald ring for everyday wear?

Emerald is softer than sapphire. It rates about 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, below sapphire at 9 and diamond at 10, and it is more brittle because of the natural inclusions inside most emeralds. That does not mean you cannot wear it daily, but it does mean you should treat it with a little more care and favor a protective setting. Almost every design in this collection uses a bezel, a halo or accented shoulders for exactly that reason.

What are the marks inside a natural emerald?

Those are inclusions, and in emerald they are so expected that the trade calls them the jardin, from the French for garden. They are a normal part of a natural emerald and part of its character, not a flaw. A lab-created emerald tends to have fewer of them, which is one reason it often looks cleaner.

Are the emeralds treated?

Almost all natural emerald on the market is clarity-enhanced, usually with cedar oil, to soften the look of its inclusions. This is a standard, long-accepted practice and does not make an emerald any less real. Untreated natural emerald exists but is a rare premium exception; we can source one on request through our concierge. Lab-created emeralds rarely need any oiling.

Do the rings come with a gemstone certificate?

These calibrated emeralds ship without an individual lab report. We hand-select every center for even green color and a clean face. If you would like a certified natural emerald or a larger specimen stone, our concierge will source and quote one honestly.

What does the price include?

Everything. The price is the complete ring: the setting in your chosen metal, the emerald center you select, and the labor to set and size it. There is no separate stone to buy and nothing to add at checkout.

Can I choose the carat, metal and stone type?

Yes. Each ring lets you pick the metal, the center carat weight, and whether the emerald is lab-created or natural, all on the product page. Ring size is confirmed after you order so we can size the finished ring to your finger.

What is the difference between lab-created and natural for price?

At the same carat and shape a lab-created emerald costs less than a natural one, because a natural emerald's price is driven by rarity. We keep the lab price at or below the natural price at every matching carat, so the choice is always honest.

Is an emerald ring a good May birthday gift?

It is a natural fit. Emerald is the May birthstone, so a green emerald ring reads as a thoughtful birthday piece for a May baby, and an easy excuse to treat yourself if you are one.
