Frequently Asked
Halo Engagement Rings FAQ
What is a halo engagement ring?
A halo engagement ring surrounds the center diamond with a ring of small pave-set diamonds. That frame does two things at once: it adds a continuous circle of sparkle around the stone, and it visually enlarges the center, because the eye reads the center and its halo together as one larger diamond. The result is a ring that looks bigger and brighter than its center carat weight alone would suggest. Every halo in this collection is shown complete with a real, independently certified lab-grown center diamond, so what you see on the page is the finished ring, not a bare setting.
Does a halo really make the center look bigger?
Yes, and noticeably so. A classic halo can make a center stone read as though it were roughly half a carat to a full carat larger, depending on how wide the frame sits. Because the small stones butt right up against the center, there is no gap for the eye to catch, so the two blend into a single bright shape. If your priority is the largest possible look for your budget, a halo is one of the smartest ways to get there, and every ring here is shown with the exact halo it ships with so there are no surprises.
What is a hidden halo?
A hidden halo is a ring of small diamonds set just beneath the center stone, facing outward from the side rather than around the top. From above the ring looks clean and modern, with the center stone standing on its own, but from the side you catch a secret sparkle peeking out under the diamond. It adds brilliance and a finished, custom feel without making the top of the ring any wider, which is why it has become one of the most requested styles for people who want a sleek profile with a hidden surprise. Many of the rings in this collection are hidden halos across cushion, emerald, marquise, pear, princess, and round centers.
Which halo style should I choose?
It depends on the look you want. A classic halo gives you the most added size and all-around sparkle. A hidden halo keeps the top clean and saves the sparkle for a side-view secret. A vintage or milgrain halo adds beaded, antique-style detailing for an heirloom feel. A double-edge halo doubles the pave for maximum light, while a cathedral or petite halo adjusts how high the center sits or how fine the frame reads. Use the comparison table above to match a style to how you want the ring to feel, then pick the center shape that suits the wearer.
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically, and optically the same material as a mined diamond, pure crystallized carbon, grown in a matter of weeks rather than over a billion years. It is not a simulant like moissanite or cubic zirconia; it tests as diamond because it is diamond. The center of every ring in this collection is a lab-grown stone graded by an independent laboratory such as GCAL, IGI, or GIA, and each ring links to its certificate. Choosing lab-grown is also what lets a halo ring, which uses a center plus a full frame of pave, stay within reach, since you are paying for real diamonds without the mined premium.
What does the all-in price include?
Everything you see on the ring. The price covers the setting, the certified lab-grown center diamond, and the full halo of pave diamonds, set and finished to your ring size. We do not show a low setting-only figure and then add the diamonds at checkout. If you would like a larger center, a different color or clarity, or natural diamonds instead of lab-grown, our concierge can quote and hand-select the stones for you, but the number on the page is the price of the complete ring as shown.
How long does a halo ring take to make?
Each ring is made to order. Because the center is set, the halo is hand-beaded with pave, and the band is finished in your exact size, most rings ship within about two to three weeks. If you are working toward a proposal date or an anniversary, tell us when you need it and we will confirm the timeline before you order and do our best to prioritize it.
Can I match a halo ring to a wedding band?
Yes. Many halo rings pair beautifully with a matching pave or plain metal band, and some halo settings are designed to let a band sit flush against the halo. Because the halo can add a little width at the base of the center, a contoured or notched band sometimes nests most cleanly. Tell our concierge which ring you have chosen and we will recommend a band that sits well against its halo and gallery.
