Frequently Asked
Men's Wedding Bands FAQ
What are the most popular metals for men's wedding bands?
Tungsten leads by a wide margin. It is roughly four times harder than titanium, holds a mirror polish for years, and shrugs off the scratches that would dull a gold band. Cobalt is the next step up in brightness — it stays a clean white without plating and is naturally hypoallergenic. Black titanium is the lightweight choice, ideal if you have never worn a ring and want to barely feel it, and it takes wood inlays beautifully. Damascus steel is for the man who wants character: every band carries a forged pattern that no two rings share.
What does comfort-fit actually mean?
A comfort-fit band is domed on the inside rather than flat, so only the center of the ring touches your finger. It slides on more easily, clears a larger knuckle, and feels less tight through the day as your hands swell in heat or after a workout. Because the interior curve adds a little material, many men find they take a comfort-fit band a half size smaller than a standard flat band. If you are between sizes, size down.
How do I choose a band width?
Width is mostly about proportion and preference. A 6mm band reads slim and modern and disappears under a work glove or a golf grip. An 8mm band has more presence and gives inlays and patterns room to show. As a rough guide, larger hands and longer fingers carry 8mm comfortably, while 6mm suits a slimmer hand or a man who wants something understated. Both widths in this collection are comfort-fit.
Are tungsten and titanium bands safe if I work with my hands?
These metals are extremely durable, which is exactly why tradespeople and active men favor them. One thing worth knowing: tungsten and cobalt are hard rather than malleable, so in a genuine emergency a first responder removes the band by cracking it with a purpose-made tool rather than cutting it — a quick, safe procedure. Titanium can be cut like precious metal. None of these bands bend out of shape the way a soft gold ring can if it is caught in machinery.
What is a meteorite inlay?
A true meteorite inlay shows the Widmanstatten pattern — a crosshatched lattice of nickel-iron crystals that only forms over millions of years of slow cooling in space. The imitation-meteorite inlays in this collection recreate that unmistakable etched figure in a durable, stable material, so you get the look and the story without the fragility of raw meteorite. Several designs pair it with carbon fiber or wood for contrast.
Can these rings be resized?
Alternative-metal bands like tungsten, cobalt and Damascus steel cannot be resized the way gold is — the metals are too hard to stretch or solder. That makes getting the size right up front important. If your size changes down the road, the right move is a replacement in the new size rather than an alteration. We are happy to help you confirm your size before you order; message our concierge and we will walk you through it.
How long until my band ships?
Availability is shown on each product page. In-stock bands ship in about 2 to 3 business days. Made-to-order designs are produced for you and typically ship inside a one-to-two-week window, which is listed on the product. Standard shipping is always free, and orders over $250 include free two-day express — helpful when a wedding date is closer than you would like.
Do you offer bands to match a partner's ring?
Many of these designs work as a his-and-hers pairing, and the alternative metals sit comfortably alongside a white-gold or platinum engagement ring. If you are trying to coordinate a set or match a metal tone, our concierge can point you to the closest companions in the collection.
How do I care for an alternative-metal wedding band?
Very little is required. Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft cloth keep tungsten and cobalt bright; a soft toothbrush lifts anything caught in a groove or an inlay. Wood-inlay bands prefer to stay out of long soaks and harsh chemicals, so slip the ring off before you use a hot tub or heavy cleaners, and the grain will keep its color for years. Damascus steel is sealed at the factory and asks only that you dry it after it gets wet. Store bands separately from harder gemstones so nothing rubs.
What if I have never worn a ring before?
Start narrow and light. A 6mm tungsten or an 8mm black-titanium band is the gentlest introduction — enough presence to feel like a wedding ring, little enough weight that you stop noticing it within a week. Comfort-fit helps here too, since the rounded interior removes the pinch first-time wearers tend to dislike. Give yourself a day or two; most men forget the ring is on by the end of the first week.
