Blue Topaz Necklace with a Diamond Accent

Two stones, stacked: a 6 mm round sky blue topaz in claw prongs, with a single natural diamond set directly above it. The claw prongs are slimmer than standard ones and curl over the crown, so from the front you see far more stone and far less metal.

The diamond is small on purpose. Its job is to catch light at the top of the drop and lead the eye down to the colour, not to compete with it. Adjustable 16-to-18-inch cable chain, solid 14K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum.

Blue topaz is colourless natural topaz that has been irradiated and heat-treated to bring out its permanent blue colour — a standard, stable industry treatment. The colour does not fade with normal wear. Topaz has perfect basal cleavage: clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and keep it away from ultrasonic cleaners, steam and sudden temperature change.
