Morganite sits at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, but internal strain runs in the beryl family, so we build these low and suggest taking the ring off for rough work. Morganite is pink-to-peach beryl at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, so it is hard, though like its emerald and aquamarine cousins it can chip on a hard knock, which is why we favour sheltering settings and hand select every stone. Nearly all morganite, ours included, is gently heat treated, and sometimes irradiated, to clear a faint yellow cast and settle its pink, a standard and permanent step we disclose plainly rather than claim the stone is untreated.
