The clean geometry reads modern on the right hand, and the raised accents give a cocktail ring the flicker it wants. The center goes from 0.85 to 2.25 carat in lab-created emerald, which is true beryl grown for a cleaner face and a tougher stone than a natural of the same size. Why does the ring use a protective setting? Emerald is softer and more brittle than sapphire or diamond, and its natural inclusions can make it prone to chipping on an exposed edge. A bezel, halo or accented shoulder shelters the stone, which is why we favor those designs here.
