Swiss Blue Topaz Cross Necklace

Seventeen tiny round Swiss blue topaz, four-prong set in a line down and across a petite gold cross. At 1 mm each the stones read as a continuous ribbon of blue rather than as individual gems — which is the whole point of a pavé-set cross, and why it catches light from every angle instead of one.

It is the only cross in the collection and the only piece here set with more than three stones. Petite at 12.7 x 8 mm, so it sits high and quiet rather than declaring itself. Solid 14K white, yellow or rose gold, on a 1 mm cable chain in 16 or 18 inches.

Stones: seventeen 1 mm round natural Swiss blue topaz. Cross 12.7 x 8 mm. Solid 14K gold. The 16-inch is Stuller's finished necklace. The 18-inch is the identical cross pendant on a solid 1 mm cable chain of the same style, assembled to order — the piece you receive looks the same either way.

Blue topaz is colourless natural topaz that has been irradiated and heat-treated to bring out its permanent blue colour — a standard, stable industry treatment. The colour does not fade with normal wear. Topaz has perfect basal cleavage: clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, never ultrasonic or steam.
