Aquamarine Rings

Aquamarine rings set the clear blue variety of beryl for everyday wear on the right hand. Every ring in this collection is a fashion ring, not a proposal ring, and every center is a natural aquamarine, gently heated to steady its blue the way almost all aquamarine on the market is. We do not sell lab grown or imitation aquamarine here; the trade does not make a synthetic version, so you get the real stone. Prices are all-in: the setting, the aquamarine you choose, and the labor to set and size it. Aquamarine is the March birthstone.

Frequently Asked

Aquamarine Rings FAQ

Are these aquamarine rings natural?

Yes. Every center in this collection is a natural, earth mined aquamarine, the blue variety of beryl. We do not sell lab grown or imitation aquamarine. The trade does not make a synthetic aquamarine, so the honest choice is a real stone, and that is what we set.

Is the aquamarine treated?

Almost certainly, and we tell you so. Nearly all aquamarine on the market is gently heated to settle its blue and clear any green cast. The treatment is standard across the industry, it is permanent, and it does not fade. We would rather name it than imply your stone is untouched.

How durable is an aquamarine ring for daily wear?

Aquamarine is hard, at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, so it shrugs off ordinary scratches. It is also brittle, which means a sharp knock on an exposed corner or edge can chip it. That is why we build these rings into bezel, channel, cluster, three-stone and accented settings that shelter the stone. Treat it with a little care and it will wear beautifully for years.

How do I clean an aquamarine ring?

Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush are all it needs. Skip the ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which can find a flaw in a brittle stone, and take the ring off for the gym, the garden and heavy chores. Store it apart from harder stones so nothing scratches it.

Is this an engagement ring?

No. These are fashion rings, made for the right hand, a stack or a self purchase rather than a proposal. Aquamarine is a softer, more brittle stone than a diamond or sapphire, so we build it for cocktail and everyday wear rather than as a bridal center. Wear it however you like.

What carats and metals can I choose?

Each ring offers a range of center carats, usually from about three quarters of a carat up toward two and a half, and your choice of 14K or 18K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. Pick the combination you want on the product page and we set and size the ring to order.

Does the aquamarine come with a certificate?

These calibrated aquamarines ship without an individual lab report. We hand select every one for even blue color and a clean face. If you would like a certified stone or a larger center, our concierge can source and quote one honestly.

Why is aquamarine the March birthstone?

Aquamarine has been the birthstone for March for as long as the modern birthstone list has existed, prized for a color that recalls clear water and calm skies. That makes one of these rings an easy, personal gift for a March birthday, or simply for yourself.

What is the difference between aquamarine and blue topaz?

They look similar but are different stones. Aquamarine is natural blue beryl, gently heated. Blue topaz is topaz that is almost always irradiated to reach its blue, and it cleaves more easily. Aquamarine holds a softer, more watery blue and is the traditional March birthstone; we sell it as the real, natural stone.
