An open circle of polished metal with a 3 mm round alexandrite prong-set inside it, near the top, so the stone hangs in the opening rather than sitting on the metal. The band overlaps itself at the top rather than closing flush, which is what keeps a 9.73 mm ring in your chosen metal from reading as flat.

This is the entry piece in this group of designs, and it carries the smallest stone in it. That is deliberate: the circle does the work at arm's length and the alexandrite rewards the closer look, which is the right order for a pendant worn often.

Alexandrite changes colour with the light it is under: bluish-green in daylight and cool office light, warmer purplish-red under incandescent lamps and candlelight. The alexandrite is lab-grown. It is the same species and chemistry as mined alexandrite, the colour-change variety of chrysoberyl, with the same hardness and the same colour-change behaviour, and it is disclosed as lab-grown here, on the product page and on the invoice.
