Pear Lab-Grown Alexandrite Cross Pendant

Five pear-cut alexandrites build this cross and almost no metal shows: four are set around the crossing to draw the arms, a fifth extends the lower arm, and a small polished bead sits at the crossing itself. Prongs and that bead are the only metal showing on the front.

At 23.52 by 12.86 mm it is the largest pendant in this group of designs - a proper cross rather than a charm - and because the stones draw the whole shape, it is almost entirely colour.

A confirmation, a christening for an older child, or a June birthday for someone who wears a cross daily and would rather it were not plain metal.

Alexandrite changes colour with the light it is under: bluish-green in daylight and cool office light, warmer purplish-red under incandescent lamps and candlelight. Supplier imagery is a rendered representation and shows the stone in one colour state, so pieces across this collection are shown in different states. The stone is doing what alexandrite does.

The alexandrite is lab-grown. It is the same species and chemistry as mined alexandrite, the colour-change variety of chrysoberyl, with the same hardness and the same colour-change behaviour, and it is disclosed as lab-grown here, on the product page and on the invoice.
