The lab-grown alexandrite at the centre shifts from teal-green by day to purplish-red by candlelight, the phenomenon that made the stone legendary. Because it is laboratory grown, that colour change is dependable and costs a fraction of a mined stone. At Mohs 8.5 it wears beautifully. Accents are natural diamonds, G to H, SI.
