Two round diamonds meet the marquise at its widest point. A round lab-grown diamond sits on each side of the marquise, placed at its widest point, so the three stones form a compact, balanced cluster instead of a long line. Claws hold every stone, with one at each tip of the center. The band is plain and smooth, leaving all the sparkle up top. The round sides soften the pointed outline, which suits someone who wants a three-stone ring with a gentler feel.
Choose a marquise center from 0.70 to 1.60 carats. Each center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Carat weights are nominal and each size has a published range; the 1.00 ct size, for example, runs 0.83 to 1.05 ct. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, chemically and physically the same as mined ones. Available in 14K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. The accent diamonds are lab-grown, near-colorless stones matched to the setting. Why pair round side stones with a marquise?
A marquise is long and pointed; rounds are the opposite. Placing a round lab-grown diamond at each side of the widest part of the center fills out the cluster and softens the outline, so the ring reads balanced rather than narrow. The two rounds also add a second kind of sparkle that sits close to the center instead of running down the band.
How are the marquise tips held?
A claw sits at each tip of the marquise, and the round side stones are held in their own claws on either side. Since the side stones sit at the middle of the center rather than at its ends, the points stay clear and easy to see. As with any claw-set ring, a periodic check by a jeweler keeps everything tight.
What quality is the center diamond?
Every marquise center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Sizes are sold by nominal carat weight with a published tolerance range, so a stone may weigh slightly over or under the headline figure within that range. Can I have a natural diamond instead?
