Men's Oval Black Onyx Ring, 12 x 10 mm 14K Yellow Gold

A 12 x 10 mm oval of natural black onyx, cut as a cabochon and held in a full bezel that wraps the whole girdle of the stone. The dome stands well clear of a heavy polished shank, about 3.1 mm wide at the base.

A full bezel is the right answer for onyx, which is softer than a gem like sapphire and does not want exposed edges. The rim shields the girdle of the stone all the way round.

About the stone: Black onyx used in jewellery is routinely dyed to even its colour; the treatment is standard and permanent.
