$1,459.00
The Eye of Horus drawn in open linework, 21.5 mm across, with a 3 mm opal cabochon bezel set as the iris and natural diamonds running along the brow. The negative space does most of the work, so the piece stays light on the neck despite its width.

The Eye of Horus drawn in open linework, 21.5 mm across, with a 3 mm opal cabochon bezel set as the iris and natural diamonds running along the brow. The negative space does most of the work, so the piece stays light on the neck despite its width.

Opal is the birthstone of October and a traditional emblem of hope and imagination, prized for its shifting play-of-color. The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, healing and restored wholeness. Set in solid 14K gold or platinum on an adjustable 16 to 18 inch cable chain with a spring ring clasp.

A gift note. A protection piece, and the sort of gift that carries a message without spelling it out. Good for a milestone, a move or a recovery.

Answers, before you ask

Your Questions

How large is the opal?

3 mm round cabochon, bezel set as the iris. It is an accent scale stone in a talisman design, not a centre stone, and the goldwork is the main subject of the piece.

How much diamond is there?

Approximately .08 carat total weight of natural diamonds, G to H colour. Clarity is I1 on the 14K gold versions and SI2 to SI3 on platinum, which is how our supplier specifies each metal.

How do I care for it?

Ethiopian (Welo) opal is hydrophane: it absorbs water, can turn temporarily transparent and lose its play-of-color while wet, and can craze as it dries. Never immerse it, and never clean it in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth only. Opal is a soft stone (Mohs 5.5 to 6.5) and is sensitive to knocks, heat and dry air. Put it on last and take it off first, store it away from harder stones, and keep it out of ultrasonic and steam cleaners.

What chain does it come on?

A solid 14K gold or platinum cable chain, 1 mm wide, adjustable to wear at either 16 or 18 inches, with a spring ring clasp. The chain is included in the price.
