Scattered-Bar Ethiopian Opal Earrings with Pink Sapphire & 1/10 ct tw Diamond

A 15 mm bar scattered with three materials at once - round Ethiopian opal cabochons, round faceted pink sapphires and straight baguette diamonds - rather than a row of one stone repeated. It is the most materially varied piece in the collection and the only one that puts pink against opal along a horizontal line.

Six opals, six pink sapphires and four baguette diamonds across the matched pair, 1/10 ct tw of natural diamond. Made in solid 14K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. Each bar measures 15.01 x 5.25 mm.

The opals are genuine natural Ethiopian (Welo) opal cabochons; Stuller does not publish a millimetre size for them and we do not state one. Stuller records the AGTA enhancement code for this opal as Natural, so no treatment is disclosed for the stone. The pink sapphires are natural, AA quality, round faceted. The baguette diamonds are natural, G-H-I colour, 1/10 ct tw for the pair per Stuller's published Diamond CTW; our supplier does not publish a clarity grade and we do not state one. Diamond and gemstone carat weights and millimetre sizes are approximate and may vary slightly from the stated figure.

Ethiopian (Welo) opal is hydrophane: it can absorb water and temporarily lose transparency or play of colour, and may craze on drying. Remove before swimming, bathing, hand-washing, and applying lotion or perfume, and never immerse it.

Opal is a softer, water-sensitive gem at 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Clean with a soft dry cloth, and never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.
