Natural Australian White Opal Hoop Earrings, Hinged 20 mm

Eighteen Australian white opal cabochons run the front arc of a hinged 20 mm hoop. A hoop is the hardest place to set a soft stone well, and this one does it properly: the cabochons sit along the front face where they are seen, and the rear arc stays plain gold so the hinge and the ear wire keep their strength. At 20 mm it is the statement hoop of the collection.

The opal is genuine natural Australian white opal, 2 mm round cabochons, 18 per pair. Stuller records the AGTA enhancement code for this opal as Natural, so no treatment is disclosed for the stone. Diamond and gemstone carat weights and millimetre sizes are approximate and may vary slightly from the stated figure.

Opal is a softer, water-sensitive gem at 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Clean with a soft dry cloth, and never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.
