Mother's Day Jewelry FAQ
What is the best jewelry to give for Mother's Day?
The gifts mothers wear most are the ones that tell her family's story and suit every day: a birthstone necklace with her children's stones, a family pendant such as the Tree of Life Diamond Pendant, pearl studs, or a pair of diamond studs. If you are unsure of her taste, choose a necklace or earrings rather than a ring; they need no size and are easy to wear with anything.
When is Mother's Day, and when should I order?
In the United States, Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday in May. Most of our pieces are made to order, and each product page shows its timing, so ordering by mid-April leaves comfortable room. Every order ships free and insured, and orders of $500 or more go by UPS Express.
How do I choose birthstones for a mother's gift?
Use the birth months of her children or grandchildren: January garnet, February amethyst, March aquamarine, April diamond, May emerald, June pearl or alexandrite, July ruby, August peridot, September sapphire, October opal or tourmaline, November citrine or topaz, and December blue zircon, tanzanite or blue topaz. The Birthstone Charm Necklace offers all twelve months, and each stone is labeled natural or laboratory-grown on the product page.
What is a mother's ring?
A mother's ring carries a stone for each child. Ours are stackable: one slim ring per child, worn together and added to as the family grows, such as the Birthstone Stackable Ring. Every ring we sell is made or sized to order, so rings are final sale; if you are unsure of her size, a birthstone necklace is the safer surprise.
Can I engrave a Mother's Day gift?
Yes, on the engravable pendants such as the Engravable Oval Disc Necklace and the Engravable Heart Locket Necklace. Children's names, initials or a meaningful date all work well. Engraving is permanent, so an engraved piece is final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
Are pearls a good gift for a mother?
Pearls are one of the most traditional gifts for a mother and the June birthstone. Akoya pearls are the round, bright classic; freshwater pearls are softer in luster and gentler in price. Pearls are softer than gemstones, so remind her to put them on after perfume and hairspray and wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing.
Lab-grown or natural diamonds?
Both are real diamonds, and every product page says which you are buying. Laboratory-grown diamonds cost far less for the same size, so the lab-grown studs and tennis bracelets give her a larger stone for the budget; natural diamonds appeal to those who prefer a stone formed in the earth.
What should I spend on Mother's Day jewelry?
Spend what feels right; she will value the thought most. Pieces here start at $549 for laboratory-grown diamond studs, with many birthstone, pearl and engravable necklaces between $650 and $1,100, and milestone tennis bracelets above $2,000.
What if it isn't quite right?
Necklaces, earrings and bracelets that are unworn, unengraved and in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Rings and engraved pieces are final sale. See shipping and returns for the details.
