Heart White Sapphire Stud Earrings, 5 mm

A 5 x 5 mm heart-cut white sapphire, held on five claw prongs. Claw prongs are drawn finer than standard prongs, which matters on a heart because the point and the cleft are where the shape is read. Each earring finishes at 5.81 x 5.35 mm, so almost all of what shows is stone. There is no diamond and no frame. Friction post and back. A Valentine that is not a cliché, and a September birthstone that is not a plain round. Natural corundum, graded AA and colorless. Hardness of 9 puts it directly below diamond, which is why it suits pieces worn daily. The stone may have been heat treated for color and clarity, which is standard and does not reverse. Soap, warm water and a soft brush; nothing stronger is needed. The photograph shows one pair; natural stones vary slightly from it.
