A 6x4 mm oval natural amethyst ringed by a fifth carat of natural diamonds, so the centre wears larger and brighter than its size on the ear.

The amethyst is natural, the purple variety of quartz, and is heat-treated to even its colour, which is standard for this stone and permanent (AGTA enhancement code: Heating). Amethyst is light- and heat-sensitive: keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, and clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush rather than steam or an ultrasonic cleaner. The accent diamonds are natural, held to a representative G to H colour, with I1 clarity in the 14K golds and SI2 to SI3 in platinum.
