The amethyst is natural, the purple variety of quartz, and is heat-treated to even its colour, which is standard for this stone and permanent (AGTA enhancement code: Heating). Amethyst is light- and heat-sensitive: keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, and clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush rather than steam or an ultrasonic cleaner. The accent stones are one twentieth carat total (0.05 ct tw) of natural diamond.
