Tourmaline is the October birthstone and a durable 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale. No origin or laboratory report is implied. Tourmaline is brittle and heat sensitive, so clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush, never an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.
