One oval of rainbow moonstone, 10 by 8 millimeters, held in a smooth closed bezel with a single natural diamond set above it. Tilt it and the stone lights from the inside, a soft blue sheen drifting across the dome like weather moving over water.
Rainbow moonstone is the trade name for white labradorite, a feldspar related to moonstone, prized for its blue and multicolored flash. The bezel wraps the full girdle of the stone, which is the setting we insist on for a gem this soft, and the piece arrives finished on a solid chain that wears at 16 or 18 inches.
