Graduated diamonds fan around the rounded end like a crown. A crescent of round lab-grown diamonds wraps the rounded end of the pear, largest at the base and smaller as they climb toward the tip. Each sits on its own raised prongs, which gives the half-halo a lively, crown-like edge. The point is left open to show the pear's shape, held by a single claw. A plain band keeps the design light. It suits someone drawn to romantic, feminine detail.
Choose a pear center from 0.65 to 2.75 carats. Each center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Carat weights are nominal and each size has a published range; the 1.10 ct size, for example, runs 1.00 to 1.20 ct. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, chemically and physically the same as mined ones. Available in 14K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. The accent diamonds are lab-grown, near-colorless stones matched to the setting. Will the crown of diamonds snag on clothing?
It can, now and then. Each small diamond sits on raised prongs, which is what gives the crown its texture, and those prongs can catch on loose knits, lace or fine hair. Turning the ring toward your palm when pulling on a sweater helps, as does taking it off before bed. A yearly prong check with a jeweler keeps the crown secure.
Which way does the crown face on the finger?
As shown, the point of the pear faces up the finger toward the nail, and the crown wraps the wide, rounded end nearer the knuckle. That places the largest diamonds of the crown at the base of the center, framing its fullest part, while the tip of the pear rises cleanly above the smaller stones.
What quality is the center diamond?
Every pear center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Sizes are sold by nominal carat weight with a published tolerance range, so a stone may weigh slightly over or under the headline figure within that range. Can I have a natural diamond instead?
