Details
The band sweeps around the stone instead of meeting it head-on. Both ends of the band curve past each other at the head, so the pear sits inside a gentle swirl rather than on a straight line. Small lab-grown diamonds run along each curving arm as it approaches the center, and toward the back the band is polished metal. Rounded claws hold the sides, and a V-prong caps the point. The movement softens the pear's sharp end. It suits someone who likes a bit of motion in a ring.
Choose a pear center from 0.65 to 2.75 carats. Each center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Carat weights are nominal and each size has a published range; the 1.10 ct size, for example, runs 1.00 to 1.20 ct. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, chemically and physically the same as mined ones. If you would rather pick an individually graded loose diamond, natural or lab-grown, build it in Design Your Ring.
Available in 14K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum. The accent diamonds are lab-grown, near-colorless stones matched to the setting. Your ring is made to order in your size (US 3 to 10; see the sizing guide) and typically ships in about 5 to 10 business days by complimentary, insured UPS Express. More pear settings are in our Pear Engagement Rings collection.

Answers, before you ask
Your Questions
Will a straight wedding band sit flush against a bypass?
Not completely. Because the band curves around the head, a straight wedding band will leave a small gap at the center where the swirl swings out. Some people like that gap; others prefer a curved or contoured band that follows the line. Either way, it is worth comparing the two together before you choose your wedding band.
How is the tip protected in this setting?
A V-prong caps the point of the pear, so the tip is wrapped in metal rather than left bare. The point is still the thinnest edge of the stone, which is true of every pear, so take the ring off for heavy work, sports and gardening. A yearly check of the claws by a jeweler keeps the center secure for daily wear.
What quality is the center diamond?
Every pear center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Sizes are sold by nominal carat weight with a published tolerance range, so a stone may weigh slightly over or under the headline figure within that range. If you want a specific graded stone, Design Your Ring lets you choose one individually.
Can I have a natural diamond instead?
This ring is offered with lab-grown centers. For a natural diamond, use Design Your Ring to choose a natural loose diamond with its own grading report and set it in one of our settings, or email concierge@diamondandsapphire.com and we will help.
How long does it take to make?
Each ring is made to order in your finger size. Most ship in about 5 to 10 business days, insured and signature-required. The product page shows the current timing before you check out.
