Turned sideways, the marquise stretches across the finger. Here the marquise is set east-west, lying across the finger rather than along it, inside a full bezel that covers both points. Graduated lab-grown diamonds step down each shoulder in small claws before the band turns to plain metal. The horizontal line feels modern and unexpected, and it keeps a long stone from running up toward the knuckle. Suits someone who loves the marquise but wants it to read less traditional.
Choose a marquise center from 0.70 to 2.55 carats. Each center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Carat weights are nominal and each size has a published range; the 1.00 ct size, for example, runs 0.83 to 1.05 ct. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, chemically and physically the same as mined ones. Your Questions
What does east-west mean for how it wears?
The long axis of the marquise runs across your finger instead of pointing toward your wrist and nail. That keeps the ring compact in length, and on most hands it looks wider and more graphic than a standard setting. It also means the two points face the sides of the finger, so a protective setting matters, which is why this design uses a bezel.
Are the points exposed in the sideways setting?
No. The bezel is a continuous metal rim around the whole stone, so both tips are enclosed. That matters here because in an east-west ring the points sit toward the neighboring fingers, where they are more likely to brush against things. The lab-grown diamonds on the shoulders are set below the bezel and step down in size away from the center.
What quality is the center diamond?
Every marquise center is a calibrated lab-grown diamond made to an F-G color, VS clarity specification. Sizes are sold by nominal carat weight with a published tolerance range, so a stone may weigh slightly over or under the headline figure within that range. Can I have a natural diamond instead?
